What Is DMI‑65 Iron Removal Media?
The DMI‑65 iron removal media removes iron and manganese from water efficiently. Unlike older methods, it does not need potassium permanganate. Instead, the silica-based media oxidizes iron and manganese as water flows through it, then traps the particles in the media bed. As a result, you get cleaner water and a safer system.
Also, this media works well in homes, businesses, and industrial water systems. Moreover, it protects equipment like water heaters and RO membranes, which reduces maintenance costs.

- Certification: NSF / ANSI 61
How It Works
First, the media’s catalytic surface oxidizes iron (Fe²⁺) to ferric iron (Fe³⁺). Consequently, the resulting particles stick in the media bed.
In addition, DMI‑65 removes certain heavy metals, including arsenic, under proper conditions. Therefore, the system not only protects water but also reduces maintenance and chemical use.
Moreover, because it does not require chemical regeneration, you save time and money. For example, households can maintain clean water without handling chemicals.
Benefits
- High Efficiency: Removes iron and manganese, even in small amounts.
- Low Maintenance: Backwash keeps the system clean; no chemical regeneration is needed.
- Protects Equipment: Shields RO membranes, water heaters, and plumbing.
- Durable Media: Lasts up to 10 years under normal conditions.
- Flexible Operation: Works across a broad pH range and temperatures up to 45 °C.
Ideal Applications
- Well or borehole water systems
- Industrial water treatment without chemicals
- Pre-treatment for RO systems
- Municipal water filtration
Installation & Usage Tips
- Maintain a small chlorine residual (0.1–0.3 ppm) to keep the media active.
- Ensure a bed depth of 600 mm or more and proper freeboard for backwash.
- Backwash regularly to remove trapped particles.
- Monitor pH and water quality to maintain optimal performance.
- Replace media only after 5–10 years of use.
